Falcons Defense Is The Real Nightmare For Week 6

Forget Michael Penix Jr.'s ribs. The real worry for the Atlanta Falcons heading into Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears is a defense that cannot stop anyone.

The New York Yankees season ended on Wednesday, October 7, after the Tampa Bay Rays won the series 3-0. The team needs a star infielder to replace Jazz Chisholm Jr. if he leaves in free agency. The best move is to trade for Atlanta Braves star Ozzie Albies. A deal for catcher Sean Murphy is a waste of time and money. Albies has the track record to anchor the infield for the next decade.

The Chisholm Hole Needs a Star

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is a pending unrestricted free agent and his 2026 season was shaky. The Yankees face a major decision on whether to bring him back. If they do not re-sign him, a massive hole opens in the middle of the diamond. Heavy reported that the team must find a replacement if Chisholm walks. Ozzie Albies stands out as the only logical answer. He has been a star throughout his entire career and fits the power needs of the Bronx.

A top trade candidate recently appeared in rumors regarding Albies. Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter suggested the Braves might move on during a larger retooling. According to the source, Albies posted a .299 on-base percentage and a mediocre 88 OPS+ in 1,350 plate appearances during the past two years. This dip in production makes him available now. The Yankees can buy low on a player who has already proven his worth.

Why Murphy Is the Wrong Move

Some fans might look at catcher Sean Murphy as a fix. Heavy suggested the Yankees could land him in exchange for prospect Jace Avina. The catch is that New York would have to take on parts of Murphy’s six-year, $73 million contract. Eight Major League Baseball years have seen him split time between the Braves and the Athletics. Across 637 games played, he totaled 295 RBIs and 96 home runs. But he has not been great in recent seasons.

Trading for Murphy only solves a backup catcher need while leaving the infield weak. The Yankees do not need to break the proverbial prospect bank for a backup. They need a cornerstone player. Albies offers a clear upgrade over Murphy because he plays a position of greater scarcity and impact. The $73 million price tag for Murphy is a glaring red flag for the front office. The Yankees should not tie up payroll on a declining catcher when a star second baseman is on the table.

Albies Brings Proven Value

The case for Albies is built on his long history of excellence. Joel Reuter observed that the Braves have been Albies’ sole team throughout his 10-year career. He accumulated 25.7 WAR while securing four All-Star selections and two Silver Slugger awards. These are not just numbers; they represent years of consistent elite play. Albies once again displayed surface-level power production even alongside the recent slump.

The Braves are looking to retool, which gives the Yankees a unique window to act. If the Braves decide to make Albies available, the Yankees should pursue him right away. He is among the players who the team should have on their radar this offseason. The risk of waiting for free agency is too high. The Rays swept the Yankees in the Division Series, and the team cannot afford another offseason of uncertainty.
