Terry Bradshaw has confessed he fears voicing his true opinions regarding Donald Trump. The four-time Super Bowl champion made this sharp confession on The Rich Roll Podcast. He worries that speaking his mind will cost him half the audience. Bradshaw is 78 years old and has broadcast for FOX for 32 years.

The football icon finds the current political climate hard to watch. He specifically pointed out the insults directed at people and women. Bradshaw told the podcast host that he has a hard time with a leader who insults women. He stated, “I can’t believe that we live in a world where we have a leader that insults people. God, I have a hard time with that. Insults women. God, I have a hard time with it, and I’m so afraid to say it,” per The Mirror US. This is a rare moment of vulnerability from a man who has spent decades in the public eye.

The Cost of Taking a Side

Bradshaw explains his silence with simple math. He noted that there are 350 million Americans in the country. If you split that group down the middle, you get 175 million people on each side. He does not want to lose 175 million people. “There are 350 million Americans, and if you split them down the middle, that’s 175 million, right? Yeah. If I don’t want to lose 175. Of course not,” he said. This calculation shows why he has stayed quiet until now.

He believes that picking a side means losing the other side entirely. It is a practical view from a man who has built a career on being liked by everyone. He told the podcast that he has never said any of this before. Now, the pressure of the upcoming November Midterms seems to have pushed him to speak. He feels the need to address the divide, even if it risks his popularity.

A History of Speaking Out

This is not the first time Bradshaw has clashed with political leaders. He has criticized Trump in the past, especially during the 2017 NFL national anthem firestorm. At that time, Donald Trump urged NFL team owners to dismiss players. Bradshaw responded by saying, “This is America. If our country stands for anything, folks, it’s freedom. People died for that freedom. I’m not sure if our President understands those rights,” according to The Mirror US.

He also gave the President advice on where to focus his energy. He did not take that advice then, and it seems he is still weighing his words now. The 78-year-old broadcaster is known for his steady presence, but he admits this issue shakes his head.

Bradshaw plans to keep working until the Super Bowl in 2029. That is three more years of being on national television. He has been at FOX since 1994, which means he has seen many changes in the country. His fear of losing fans is real, but his conscience seems to be winning. He finally said he is “afraid to say” it, which is a bold admission for a celebrity.
