Information from partners
- Analytics and advertising partners may share measurement and audience information with us.
- Data partners may provide information such as email addresses (sometimes in hashed form) and interest or demographic attributes. We use this to recognize visitors and understand their interests.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to run our sites, measure and improve them, and fund them through advertising.
- Publish our articles and keep the sites working and secure.
- Measure readership and test which headlines and layouts work best.
- Select and measure ads, including ads based on your inferred interests.
- Recognize returning visitors and devices, and build audience segments and interest profiles.
- Send newsletters you signed up for, and answer your messages.
- Detect spam, fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations.
We may combine information collected across our sites with information from partners for these purposes.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Some features may not work properly if you do.
5. Advertising and identity resolution
Our sites are free to read because they carry advertising. Some ads are chosen based on interests we or our partners infer from your activity.
Our identity technology may link the browser or device you use to other identifiers. These can include email addresses (sometimes hashed) that we collected or obtained from data partners. This lets us recognize you across visits, sites and devices, and build interest profiles used for advertising and analytics. We may share identifiers and inferences with advertising partners.
Under some state laws, these activities may count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information, or as “targeted advertising” or “profiling”. You can opt out at any time (section 7).
6. How we share information
We share personal information only with the groups below.
- Service providers that work for us, such as hosting (WP Engine), content delivery (Cloudflare), analytics (Google), and email delivery and spam filtering (Automattic’s Akismet). They may use it only to provide their services.
- Advertising partners such as ad networks, ad exchanges and measurement companies, for the purposes in section 5.
- Data partners that help us recognize visitors and understand their interests.
- Other Scoreline sites, which share our analytics and advertising systems.
- Legal and safety recipients, when required by law or to protect our rights, users or others.
- A buyer or successor if Scoreline is involved in a merger, sale or reorganization.
Content partners that republish our articles, such as Yahoo, receive our articles, not your personal information.
7. Your choices
You can limit how your information is used without contacting us.
- Opt out of selling, sharing and targeted ads: use Your Privacy Choices, linked in the footer of every page. We also treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as an opt-out for that browser.
- Cookies: use Your Privacy Choices, or block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Industry opt-outs: the Digital Advertising Alliance’s WebChoices tool and the NAI opt-out page.
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
Opting out of targeted ads does not remove ads. You will still see ads, but they will be less tailored to you.
8. US state privacy rights
If you live in California or another US state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you have rights over your personal information. California residents can also read our California Privacy Notice.
Depending on your state, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete your information, with some exceptions.
- Stop selling or sharing it, and stop using it for targeted advertising or profiling.
We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
