The 2027 Nürburgring 24 Plan

ABT Motorsport has signed a new, multi-year deal with Lamborghini to race the Temerario GT3 at the Nürburgring 24 in May 2027. The team will enter two cars in the event after running the Huracan GT3 EVO2 this year. This move comes just one year after ABT ended a long partnership with Audi to switch brands.

In the DTM series, the squad currently operates two Temerarios, according to Sportscar365. They have already secured two podiums in the car’s first season of competition. However, the new agreement pushes the team into new races like the GT Winter Series and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo for the first time.

ABT confirmed it will enter two cars into the May 2027 contest. This decision follows a rough 2024 season where the team was disqualified from second place for using excessive power output. The team plans to reveal its driver lineups soon, but no specific names have been confirmed yet.

Why the Huracan Disqualification Matters

The path to this new deal was not smooth. This year, ABT competed with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 and incurred a significant penalty. The team was disqualified from second place in a race because officials found they used too much power. This failure did not stop the partnership. Instead, it seems to have fueled the push for a fresh start with the Temerario model.

The Temerario GT3 is making its debut at the Nürburgring 24 next year. This race is one of the most famous endurance events in the world. ABT aims to fix the issues from last year and show what the new car can do. The team will use the Temerario in the DTM this season while preparing for the big 24-hour race.

Twenty-Five Years with Audi Ends

This new deal marks a huge shift for the German racing team. At the conclusion of the 2024 season, ABT ended its 25-year partnership with Audi. That partnership ended when the German manufacturer decided to withdraw from the sports car arena. Instead of waiting for a new Audi plan, ABT began running Lamborghinis immediately.

The switch happened fast. The team moved from one brand to another without a long gap. They now have two podiums in the DTM with the Temerario GT3. This success shows the team can adapt to new machines quickly. The expanded agreement ensures they will stay with Lamborghini for years to come.

While the cars and tracks are set, the people behind the wheel are still a mystery. ABT said that its lineups will be revealed “soon.” This phrase suggests that drivers are being signed right now. Fans will need to wait a bit longer to see who will drive the two Temerarios in 2027.

The team is ready to take on the GT Winter Series and the Super Trofeo. These races will give the drivers more time to learn the car. The N24 contest in May 2027 will be the ultimate test.
